I began my nursing education at Creighton University, where my passion for caring for the whole-person first took root. My early formative years as a registered nurse were at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. While at Mayo I worked as a medical nurse on a floor with complex medical patients. During this time I gained a deep respect for the resilience people show during times of illness. I learned how to listen and develop trust by supporting others through some of their most difficult moments. I saw my ability to listen grow deeper during time spent working in Haiti and the United States at community health centers as well as from spending time in Ethiopia. It was in these settings I was taught how to structure my time around listening rather than "doing" and being with others. I established a priority for relationship and understanding over schedules and personal accomplishments. Through my life learning experience and as a psychiatric nurse practitioner I continue to learn the importance of meeting people where they are at with humility, cultural awareness, and compassion (eleos).

Bio
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
the art of
listening
As a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner I provide comprehensive psychiatric mental health care for all mental health needs. I have over 20 years of nursing experience beginning at Mayo Clinic as well as volunteering in community clinics and women's crisis clinics. I enjoy caring for all ages and have experience with every stage of life and the unique challenges they bring. I have a true passion for supportive therapy driven medical management and see medications as an adjunct to therapy. Following the Mayo model I highly value collaborating with all types of mental health providers. I am honored to hear your story and be part of your collaborative team. By combining my understanding of both medical health and mental health I am able to put your treatment plan into perspective to meet your specific needs.
I have a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University with a specialization in psychiatric mental health (PMHNP) to more fully support individuals navigating emotional and mental health challenges. At the heart of my work I have a belief in healing, wholeness, and walking alongside each person with kindness and respect with an emphasis on the intrinsic value of each person.
